I have been watching the documentary 'The ascent of money' in the past few weeks. In this Niall Ferguson discusses how various financial institutions came into being and where they went wrong in the past.
Its a good watch for all the non-financial people who want to know how financial institutions play with our money. I especially like the history of banks, insurance and stock markets.
eg. did you know that the word 'credit' is derived from the word 'credo' which is latin for 'I believe' or 'I trust'
